Description

Hydroxypropyl g-Cyclodextrin

Hydroxypropyl g-Cyclodextrin (HPγCD) is a water-soluble cyclic oligosaccharide used in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical formulations to enhance the solubility, bioavailability, and stability of poorly water-soluble active ingredients.

  • High-purity modified γ-cyclodextrin for solubilization enhancement
  • Complies with pharmacopoeial specifications (USP, Ph. Eur. where applicable)
  • Widest internal cavity size among cyclodextrins for large molecule inclusion
  • Suitable for parenteral, oral, ophthalmic, and topical dosage forms
  • Manufactured under cGMP and ISO 9001:2015-certified systems
  • Supplied with full regulatory support including CoA, DMF, and stability data

HPγCD is derived from γ-cyclodextrin by hydroxypropylation, improving aqueous solubility while preserving the ability to form non-covalent inclusion complexes with hydrophobic drugs. Its larger cavity size makes it ideal for accommodating bulky actives, peptides, and lipophilic compounds with limited solubility.

It is used across multiple delivery routes—parenteral injections, eye drops, oral suspensions, and transdermal patches—where drug solubilization, stabilization, and controlled release are required. HPγCD also reduces irritation potential and improves safety profiles in parenteral formulations.

Carbomer supplies Hydroxypropyl γ-Cyclodextrin in bulk packaging designed for moisture and microbial protection. It is available in sterile and non-sterile grades tailored for formulation development and scale-up.

Each batch is tested for substitution degree, residual solvents, and microbial load. Documentation includes full analytical methods, ICH stability, toxicological data, and regulatory cross-reference support.

As with all Carbomer excipients and solubilizers, Hydroxypropyl γ-Cyclodextrin is supported by in-depth formulation expertise and regulatory guidance to enable effective and compliant drug development strategies.
