Description

Chitosan Ascorbate

Chitosan Ascorbate is a salt formed from Chitosan and Ascorbic Acid, combining the cationic, bioadhesive properties of Chitosan with the antioxidant functionality of Ascorbic Acid. It is used in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and biomedical applications where improved solubility, stability, and biological activity are desired.
Chitosan Ascorbate appears as a white to pale yellow powder that is readily dispersible in water, forming clear to slightly opalescent solutions depending on molecular weight and degree of substitution. Formation of the ascorbate salt improves aqueous solubility compared to native Chitosan while retaining its characteristic polymeric structure and functionality.
In pharmaceutical and research applications, Chitosan Ascorbate is used in:
• Oral and topical drug delivery systems
• Mucoadhesive and bioadhesive formulations
• Antioxidant-containing delivery platforms
• Wound care and tissue regeneration research
• Nutraceutical formulations supporting immune and skin health
• Encapsulation and stabilization of sensitive bioactive compounds
Chitosan Ascorbate functions by providing electrostatic interaction and film-forming capability from the Chitosan backbone, while the Ascorbate counterion contributes antioxidant activity and improved solubility. This combination supports enhanced formulation performance and biological compatibility.
CarboMer supplies Chitosan Ascorbate with defined molecular characteristics, consistent salt formation, and high purity suitable for regulated pharmaceutical research and advanced formulation development.
The material is packaged in sealed, moisture-resistant, tamper-evident containers to preserve stability and handling performance. Available in laboratory and pilot-scale quantities. Documentation includes Certificate of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and full traceability.
Each batch is tested for identity, degree of salt formation, molecular weight distribution, moisture content, antioxidant activity, and microbial limits. Technical support is available to assist with formulation design, solubility optimization, and application development.
As with all CarboMer supplied Chitosan-based materials, Chitosan Ascorbate is supported by dependable global supply, rigorous quality systems, and expert technical guidance to ensure consistent and reliable performance across pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and research applications.
