Description
Topiramate
Topiramate is a high-purity, pharmaceutical-grade anticonvulsant used in oral formulations for the management of epilepsy and as a preventive therapy for migraine headaches. As a sulfamate-substituted Monosaccharide derivative, Topiramate exerts multimodal mechanisms that reduce neuronal hyperexcitability. Topiramate
- Is a pharmaceutical-grade anticonvulsant active pharmaceutical ingredient (API)
- Blocks voltage-dependent Sodium channels and enhances GABAergic activity
- Is indicated for partial-onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and migraine prophylaxis
- Is suitable for immediate-release tablets, extended-release capsules, and sprinkle formulations
- Is manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions
- Is supplied with complete regulatory documentation including Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and supporting technical data
Topiramate’s mechanism of action includes enhancement of GABA-mediated chloride flux, inhibition of Kainate/AMPA receptors, and suppression of repetitive neuronal firing through Sodium channel modulation. This combination of effects provides broad-spectrum antiseizure activity and proven migraine prevention efficacy.
In pharmaceutical development, Topiramate is used in:
- Immediate-release tablets and capsules for monotherapy or adjunctive epilepsy treatment
- Extended-release formulations to support once-daily dosing and improve adherence
- Sprinkle capsules designed for pediatric and dysphagia patient populations
- Investigational combination products for weight management and metabolic disorders
CarboMer supplies Topiramate with controlled particle size distribution, low impurity profile, and tight assay specifications. The API meets or exceeds compendial requirements in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).
The material is packaged in sealed, moisture-protected, tamper-evident containers. Available in R&D, pilot, and commercial-scale pack sizes. Minimum order quantities (MOQ), lead times, and full regulatory documentation are available upon request.
Each batch is tested in accordance with pharmacopeial standards, including identity, assay, residual solvents, heavy metals, polymorphic form, and microbial purity. Full traceability and Certificates of Analysis (CoA) are provided with every shipment.
As with all CarboMer APIs, Topiramate is supported by expert formulation guidance, regulatory assistance, and lifecycle documentation to help partners develop safe, effective CNS therapies with confidence.
