Description
Poly(vinyl acetate)
Poly(vinyl acetate) is a versatile, water-insoluble thermoplastic polymer used in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and industrial formulations for its excellent film-forming, binding, and adhesion properties. As a homopolymer of vinyl acetate, it serves as a key excipient in controlled-release matrices, tablet coatings, and oral dosage form stabilization systems. Poly(vinyl acetate)
- Is a nonionic thermoplastic polymer with adhesive and film-forming capabilities
- Is used in sustained-release tablets, coatings, gums, and matrix systems
- Exhibits excellent mechanical strength, flexibility, and chemical resistance
- Is compatible with other polymers such as poly(vinyl alcohol) and plasticizers
- Is manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified conditions
- Is supplied with complete regulatory documentation including Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and technical data
Poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) is available in a range of molecular weights and viscosities, allowing precise control over release profiles and processing behavior. It is insoluble in water but dispersible in aqueous emulsions and soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone.
In pharmaceutical applications, Poly(vinyl acetate) is used in:
- Sustained- or extended-release oral dosage forms
- Matrix tablets where diffusion and erosion control are required
- Film coatings for tablets and capsules with improved mechanical integrity
- Chewable tablets and gums for active delivery via the buccal cavity
- Adhesives in patch systems and protective films in multi-layer tablets
PVAc forms smooth, uniform films with strong adhesion and resistance to cracking. It can be plasticized to adjust hardness and flexibility and is often used in combination with Poly(Vinyl Alcohol), Ethylcellulose, or Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose to achieve tailored release characteristics.
CarboMer supplies pharmaceutical-grade Poly(vinyl acetate) in multiple viscosities and particle sizes. Custom dispersions and co-processed blends can be formulated to meet specific product development goals.
The material is packaged in sealed, moisture-controlled, tamper-evident containers. Available in R&D, pilot, and commercial quantities. Minimum order quantities (MOQ), lead times, and documentation—including CoA and SDS—are available upon request.
Each batch is tested for identity (IR, NMR), viscosity, residual monomers, loss on drying, ash content, and microbial purity. Certificates of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and full traceability documentation accompany every shipment.
As with all CarboMer excipients and functional polymers, Poly(vinyl acetate) is supported by expert formulation guidance, regulatory support, and dependable logistics to help ensure product consistency and global market readiness.
