Description
g-Cyclodextrin
g-Cyclodextrin (gamma-Cyclodextrin) is a high-purity, water-soluble cyclic oligosaccharide composed of eight α-1,4-linked Glucose units. Known for its large cavity size and exceptional complexation capabilities, g-Cyclodextrin is widely used in pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic applications to improve the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of poorly soluble actives. g-Cyclodextrin
- Is a pharmaceutical-grade cyclic oligosaccharide composed of eight Glucose units
- Forms inclusion complexes with hydrophobic drug molecules to enhance their solubility
- Is ideal for oral, ophthalmic, topical, and parenteral formulations
- Has low toxicity and high aqueous solubility which make it suitable for human and veterinary use
- Is manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions
- Supplied with complete regulatory documentation including Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and supporting technical data
Due to its larger internal cavity (compared to α- or β-Cyclodextrins), g–Cyclodextrin can encapsulate a broader range of large-molecule actives and hydrophobic compounds. It increases aqueous solubility and protects labile drugs from hydrolysis, oxidation, or photodegradation.
In pharmaceutical and biomedical applications, g–Cyclodextrin is used in:
- Oral solid dosage forms (e.g., tablets and sachets) to improve drug dissolution
- Topical and dermal products for solubilizing volatile or lipophilic actives
- Parenteral formulations for solubility enhancement and stabilization
- Ophthalmic and nasal sprays to facilitate mucosal delivery of hydrophobic drugs
- Nutraceuticals and food products as a carrier for flavors, vitamins, and antioxidants
g–Cyclodextrin is generally well-tolerated and biodegradable, with favorable safety and pharmacokinetic profiles. It does not accumulate in the body and is excreted unchanged or metabolized by gut flora.
CarboMer supplies g–Cyclodextrin with tight control over degree of substitution (if modified), moisture content, microbial load, making it suitable for regulated pharmaceutical use.
The material is packaged in sealed, moisture-resistant, tamper-evident containers. Available in standard and custom pack sizes to support R&D, clinical, and commercial manufacturing. Minimum order quantities (MOQ), lead times, and documentation—including CoA and SDS—are provided upon request.
Each batch is tested for identity (IR, NMR), assay, loss on drying, residual solvents, microbial content, and complexation performance. Certificates of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and full traceability documentation accompany every shipment.
As with all CarboMer excipients and complexing agents, g–Cyclodextrin is supported by formulation guidance, regulatory assistance, and dependable global supply to help you develop high-performance delivery systems and stable therapeutic products.
