Description
Xanthan Gum
Xanthan Gum is a high-purity, high–molecular weight polysaccharide used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, nutraceutical, and food formulations as a rheology modifier, stabilizer, and suspending agent. Produced through controlled fermentation of Xanthomonas campestris, it forms highly viscous, shear-thinning solutions even at low concentrations and provides exceptional stability in a wide variety of systems.
Xanthan Gum appears as a white to cream-colored free-flowing powder that disperses readily in water to form smooth, consistent gels. It is stable across a broad pH range (2–12), tolerant of heat, freeze–thaw cycles, and compatible with electrolytes, making it ideal for demanding formulation environments.
In pharmaceutical, nutritional, cosmetic, and industrial applications, Xanthan Gum is used in:
• Oral suspensions, syrups, and solutions requiring long-term suspension stability
• Topical creams, lotions, and gels for enhanced viscosity and spreadability
• Ophthalmic and nasal formulations for bioadhesion and viscosity control
• Controlled-release systems and hydrogel matrices
• Nutritional products, beverages, and functional foods
• Cosmetics including serums, emulsions, and hair care products
Xanthan Gum provides pseudoplastic rheology, allowing products to remain thick at rest while thinning under shear, improving pourability and user experience. It stabilizes emulsions, suspends particles, and enhances texture without masking actives or altering sensory attributes.
CarboMer supplies Xanthan Gum with control over viscosity, particle size, moisture content, and microbial quality to meet stringent industry requirements. The material is suitable for pharmaceutical, nutritional, cosmetic, and food applications requiring high performance and consistency.
The material is packaged in sealed, moisture-resistant, tamper-evident containers. It is available in laboratory, pilot, and commercial-scale quantities. Documentation includes Certificate of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and complete traceability.
Each batch is tested for identity (IR), viscosity profile, loss on drying, pH, heavy metals, and microbial limits. CarboMer provides formulation guidance and technical support to ensure optimal performance across diverse product types.
As with all CarboMer hydrocolloids and rheology modifiers, Xanthan Gum is backed by reliable global supply, rigorous quality control, and expert formulation support to ensure safe, stable, and high-performance product development.
